Earlier this month, I posted a job ad on Bidmii and Jiffy regarding a re-do of my deck. These are apps where a homeowner can blast out a project to a bunch of contractors in the area and get some bids or quotes, while being protected via some form of escrow. Theoretically, it sounds like the best thing since sliced bread and it’s worth a shot. Anyways, I had 4 different contractors confirm that they were interested in checking out the project. All of them had agreed in writing to drop by for a site visit on June 4 (at different times). However, on the day of, guess who actually showed up…on time, yeah it was Marcin from 6 Star Pros. Most homeowners dislike contractors- the field is plagued with bad apples, con artists, fraudsters, most of whom have poor communication skills and horrendous business acumen. So, imagine my surprise when I meet Marcin, a contractor who is an exception to the norm. This guy is prompt, thorough, punctual, a great communicator, courteous, explains everything in plain English, has integrity, and submits a meticulously detailed quote with every step itemized and costed out. Heck, no wonder he has such a high rating on Google (and the highest on Jiffy). Make no mistake, Marcin is a disruptor to this profession and one of the good guys. For that, he has earned my five stars and I’m keeping his number handy for whatever else pops up around my house.

Marcin and his team are absolutely amazing. From the initial inquiry online to the in-person consultation, work being done, cleanliness and organization of the site, and finally to the follow-up care, everything was completed with attention to details and clear communication. He always made it feel like we were the only clients on his schedule - he is so responsive on the phone and over email that we always felt taken care of. Out of the several contractors that we met with, he was also the only one who took his time to *carefully* examine our site, provide alternatives to building materials that we had not considered, and on top of it all he and his team are such warm, friendly, and respectful people. We love that they took good care of our sensitive Japanese Maple, making cut outs in the fence to ensure it was as undisturbed as possible (see photos). They were also very comfortable and understanding around our brand new puppy who always wanted to interact and distract them! We would not hesitate to use his company again. I contacted Marcin to do some work on installing posts and saddles for a deck project. I was on a tight timeframe as the deck builders were coming down from Manitoulin to build the deck within a couple of days. I can't say enough about Marcin's professionalism, accommodation on a tight time frame, friendliness, patience answering all my questions. He fitted me in for the job, showed up when he said he would, in fact early and came and did a perfect job just in time for the deck to be built. Not an easy job considering someone else was building the deck. I'm very grateful I found Marcin and will recommend him to anyone needing any kind of work. Marcin & Doran (sp?) did an great job building 2 SunLouvre pergolas on my property over the past couple weeks. They were on-time, and kept me informed via phone/text on their progress, and with updates. Marcin is highly skilled in building pergolas to last. For example, he installed a pergola on our rooftop terrace, where the winds can really whip up. He used rock to fill the inside of the pergola aluminum posts to weigh them down and add stability. Six Star Pros replaced our fence last year and did such a good job we called them to replace our front deck. Quality jobs, both. Attention to detail. I'm sure I will be calling them again.
